Language
Swedish is a North Germanic language, spoken by more than nine million people, predominantly in Sweden and parts of Finland, especially along the coast and on the Åland islands. It is to a considerable extent mutually intelligible with Norwegian and to a lesser extent with Danish. Along with the other North Germanic languages, Swedish is a descendant of Old Norse, the common language of the Germanic peoples living in Scandinavia during the Viking Era.
For over two thousand years, Ireland has been a host to a surprising variety of languages and cultures: Irish Gaelic, English, French, German, Ulster Scots, Ancient Greek and Latin.
Nowadays most people speak Irish English, or like some claim, English with an Irish accent. A minority still speaks Irish Gaelic, one of the six Gaelic left forms of language. About 30% of the population is able to speak Irish Gaelic.

The first written sample of the Slovenian language are believed to be the Freising manuscripts (Brizinski spomeniki), which date back to around 1000 CE. The language in literature emerged in 16th century, when the first books : Catechism (Katekizem) and Abecedarium (Abecednik) were printed by Primoz Trubar.
Finland has two official languages: Finnish and Swedish.
Finnish, a Finno-Ugric language, is spoken by 91,2% and Swedish by 5,4% of the population. Sami (Lappish) is the mother tongue of about 1,700 people.
